The face cam is a staple here at Try Hard Studios and an essential part of our screencasting methodology. It’s this little picture-in-picture bubble, and I personally believe it adds a significantly engaging element to otherwise static content. These peeks into the speaker keep the audience more connected and attentive.

This meticulous attention to detail is what sets our content apart and maintains the brand quality Try Hard Studios is known for.
I’ve simplified this process for you. With the plug-in bundled with your course, you can drag and drop presets onto your footage, making face cam integration as straightforward as possible. This plug-in is designed to streamline your workflow and maintain the quality standards we've established.
Start by finding your full-screen talking head footage and duplicate it. Rename this copy as "face cam" to differentiate it from your original screen footage.
Cropping to a Square: Begin by applying a crop effect to your footage, adjusting it to form a perfect square. Ensure alignment by fine-tuning the crop settings if necessary.
Creating Rounded Corners: Next, use the roughen edges effect to give your face cam rounded corners. Adjust settings to fit your preference for a cohesive look.
Scale down the face cam and position it at the bottom right corner. Utilize the transform effect for flexibility in placement, ensuring margins are equal for a neat visual appeal.
Enhance the face cam with two layers of drop shadows for depth. Create a tight, dark shadow underneath, followed by a softer, lighter shadow for a balanced aesthetic.
Premiere Pro offers the ability to save your face cam adjustments as a preset. This feature allows you to quickly apply the same styling and positioning to future projects, significantly speeding up your editing process.
With your face cam, talking head footage, screen footage, and background in place, you have a complete screencast setup. Toggle full-screen footage on and off as needed to seamlessly transition between different sections of your screencast.
